Institute of Contemporary Arts

Institute of Contemporary Arts is amongst the most visited London attractions. It is located in the central London and is easily accessible from several public transports. The institute is within the walking distance from the Charing Cross and the Piccadilly Circus tube station. At the institute of contemporary arts, several well known artists, scientists and writers put forward their ideas and contribute to the traditional confines of the Royal Academy. It exhibits a wide variety of modern art work by globally renowned artists including Jackson Pollock and Picasso.

You can explore the galleries, book shop, cinema halls, theatre and a restaurant bar. The restaurant at the institute known as Pavilion offers delicious cuisines and drinks. The book shop is also extremely popular amongst the tourists. The Institute of Contemporary Arts has been promoting the art and culture in England since a long time. It has also been a great platform for several renowned directors, actors, artists and musicians of Britain. The entry to the institute is not free for the visitors and you need to book the tickets in advance.

Admission

Entry to the ICA Galleries and the Bar and Cafe areas requires Day Membership £1.50/£1 concession Monday to Friday,£2.50/£1.50 concession Saturday and Sunday [during exhibitions, otherwise £1.50/£1.00].

[Please note: Day Membership is included in all ticket purchases. So, for example, if you see a film you can visit any ICA exhibition open that day and take advantage of the Bar and Cafe.]

Disabled people are entitled to the concessionary rate for all ICA events. Free tickets are available for a companion with a wheelchair user.

Access & Disabled Facilities.

Access for Wheelchair Users There is level access to the entrance from The Mall. There is one double set of automatic sliding doors. The Box Office and Bookshop are situated in the main foyer at ground level. Cinema 1, Cinema 2 and the Theatre are accessible via permanent ramps. There is space for one wheelchair in Cinema 2; one in Cinema 1; and the theatre can accommodate up to 6 wheelchair users. The lower gallery has a platform lift located by the main entrance. The user can operate this independently or with the assistance of a member of staff. There is no access to the upper gallery for wheelchair users unless they are able to transfer from their wheelchair to a small passenger lift. Assistance for this is required as the lift in not in a public area. This also allows access to the Nash and Brandon rooms. Please note the lift cannot accommodate wheelchair users unless they are able to transfer from their wheelchair. Access for People with Limited Mobility All walking areas are kept clear. Some of the seats in the cinema, at the end of the rows, allow for a little more legroom. There are 7 steps leading down to the Lower Gallery and 33 steps leading to the Upper Gallery. There is a small lift available to take people to the Upper Gallery and the Nash & Brandon rooms. Please ask for the Duty manager if you require the lift. Access to the Upper gallery can also be arranged using the ICA administrative entrance at 12 Carlton House Terrace. There are four steps from street to Upper gallery level. Please contact the Centre Manager to arrange access. Access for Visually Impaired People Guide dogs are welcome and may be left with a member staff. Access for People Who Are Deaf or Hard Of Hearing There is a text phone in the box office - telephone number is 020 7839 0737. This can be used for booking tickets and general enquiries. The Box Office and Cinemas have an infrared hearing system. Headsets are available from the box office free of charge. There is level access to the entrance from The Mall.
