Royal Mews
The Royal Mews is the mews of the Royal family (also called Stables or garage) in London. The Mews is located at the Buckingham Palace gardens, near the Grosvenor Place. This London attraction was located at the Charing Cross called the King’s Mews. George III moved his daily use horses at the Buckingham Palace in the 1760s, but the ceremonial coaches and their horses remained at the King’s Mews. However, his son George IV converted Buckingham Palace to be the main residence of the Royal family; he also moved the entire stable from the King’s mews to the new residence. Later the King’s mews was converted into the famous Trafalgar Square. The Royal Mews was designed by the famous architect John Nash.
The Royal Mews is open to public for a limited number of days. The visitors can enjoy the Royal Mews and the royal carriages with thirty horses on the visiting days. There is also a restricted area of the Royal Mews, which overlooks the Hampton Court Green. The nearest tube stations are Victoria, Green Park and Hyde Park Corner, and the Queen Victoria is the closest train station.
