The Clink Prison Museum
The Clink Prison Museum is served as a prison in UK since the late 12th century. The Museum of Clink Prison is also located at the same site and is a well known attraction in London. Situated at the Clink Street in the region of Southwark, The Clink Prison Museum is within the easy reach from the Southwark underground and London Bridge tube station.
It is the oldest women prison in the entire England. It is also said that Shakespeare used to visit his close school friend in the prison. The prison was not used much after the civil war. The museum was later built at the original site of the Clink Prison. Later on in the year 1780, during the Gordon Riots, the prison was burnt. Since then the Clink Prison Museum is a popular and legendary museum in the city. It can also be hired for private parties. You can visit this museum any day during the week, from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm in the evening. The charges of entry to the museum are 5 pounds. If you are planning to visit the museum along with your family then you can also avail a special family discount. In this special package the entry charge will be 12 pounds for 2 adults and 2 children.
